AI-Enhanced Particle Image Velocimetry Processing for Combustion and Flow Diagnostics
Research Project

A collaborative research project focused on developing AI-enhanced algorithms for Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) data processing. The project combines Python and MATLAB-based computational methods with machine learning to remove optical reflections and vibration artifacts from experimental flow measurements, producing high-quality datasets for combustion and fluid flow diagnostics. The research builds upon NASA’s methodology for PIV data processing and utilizes experimental datasets from the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT).
Multidimensional Signal Processing: Applications in Biometrics
PRFU Research Project
Badji Mokhtar – Annaba University, Annaba, Algeria
A research project focused on multidimensional signal processing for biometric applications, aiming to enhance the security, reliability, and performance of multimodal biometric systems. The project investigates biometric data quality enhancement, multimodal fusion, and advanced signal and image processing techniques for biometric recognition, with applications in secure authentication and medical diagnostics. Research activities include the development of novel algorithms for biomedical signals and voice recognition, supported by FPGA and sensor-based experimental platforms.

Hatem Zehir is a researcher with a PhD in Biometrics. His research sits at the intersection of deep learning, signal and image processing, and biometric systems, with a focus on ECG-based person identification, multimodal fusion, and the deployment of AI on embedded and edge platforms using TinyML.

His work addresses real-world challenges across biomedical and healthcare systems, security and identity verification, and edge intelligence, and has been published in Q1/Q2 journals as well as IEEE conferences. He also serves as a peer reviewer in multiple journals.

Alongside his research, he held a temporary teaching position at Badji Mokhtar University, where he lectured and instructed courses in image processing, artificial intelligence, signal processing, and programming.

He is currently seeking a postdoctoral position in biometrics, AI, or related fields.
